Keep in mind, these have not been kept fully up-to-date as Chris stopped playing TF2 mid-2012 - but these are still good bases to start from.

Some console variables (convars), client variables (convars that start with cl_ or r_), and system settings (graphics card settings, processor settings, etc.) can cause instability and crashes. While it definitely helps if you want to start from scratch and go build-a-bear style, there are also a handful of configs made by other members of the community, as well as programs people use to get better performance. So I’m not sure how anyone else’s frames are or the overall performance people have (which can be checked with either cl_showfps 1 or net_graph 1 through 5) - but I’m sure everyone loves having more frames than less.Ī while back we made a separate post about making your own config to get better performance.
